Extending Stay in Vietnam

I'm on a multiple entry 5-year VISA exemption but my permitted stay is expiring this May 5th. I need to get a new stamp every 6 months. Since this is my first time doing this, what options do I have to get a new stamp?

I read border runs and getting a new stamp at the local immigration office?

I'm current living in HCMC.

I am actually flying out of the country on June 3rd for two weeks before I return. Can I just do this instead to get a new stamp or will it cause problem with Vietnam's immigration because I did not get a new stamp before the previous one already expired?

You will need to get the extension in May before you fly out. When you return from your trip you will be given another 6 months from the date of entering Viet Nam.
