Here are some answers to some of your questions.

For taxes in Colombia, you are considered a tax resident if/when you spend more than 183 days cumulative in-country in any 365 day period.  When that happens, Colombia asserts the right to tax your world-wide income.  Colombia's tax rates are a higher percentage than in the US, and start at lower income levels.  Any income over about $15,000 USD/year will be subject to taxation.  Nevertheless many expats find that with deductions, they end up paying little to no taxes and any taxes paid are offset by the lower cost of living.

You need a verified income of at least 3 times the minimum monthly wage to be considered for residency.  Currently the minimum monthly wage for 2019 is 828,116 COP, so three times that is 2,484,348 COP, or about 787 USD per month at the current exchange rate.

Most words, phrases and webpages in Spanish can be translated to passable English using Google Translate:

The internet is available in all major cities but may be spotty in the smallest villages and rural areas.  There are various providers, speeds are generally less than what is available in the US, but the cost is also usually less.  Cell phone service is widely available via several carriers but due to the mountainous terrain there are many areas with poor or no service.

What's it like living in Colombia?  For most it is a pleasant experience where your money goes further than it does in the developed world.  The climate is generally not too hot nor too cold, depending mostly on the altitude of where you live.  Personal services such as maids, home delivery, gardeners, etc. are cheaper, since labor is cheaper.  Most amenities of the developed world are available, but not as widely and maybe not the same quality or quantity.  The pleasant experience is enhanced by fluency in Spanish, the most widely spoken language in Colombia.  Without Spanish you will have many difficulties and frustrations.

Might as well ask us to explain quantum mechanics or the theory of relativity

BTW- the 3 times minimum rule only applies for government or government corporation pensions.

If you have a private pension, you have to go  as aREntista, and it is 11 times the minimum salary.

Ahhhhh......very interesting information Quechimba......first time I have heard that one.......But I have heard from a gringo living in Poblado that it is possible to pull a visa based on you supporting a Colombiana. And getting this support document notarized and all that.....Do you know anything about it? Anything to it?

Its called a "vivienda conyugal" and its the same as common law marriage in North América.

By law it has to be 2 years together but nothing sitops people from.lieing and declaring it is 2 years in the Notary.

Note you dont wanna do this if you have property or bank accounts in Colombia..because the woman has same rights as marriage status when. It ends.

And whats that? 2 yrs? And if thats the case it better be the real deal, haha.........

Do NOT get married without a CAPITALIZATION CONTRACT!!!!  If you do everything is 50-50 split even if it is the next day after the marriage that she wants a divorce.  This is basically a PreNuptial and all lawyers know it sand accepted by the courts. Generally they will NOT tell you about it.   I believe that you can do the CC even if you just live together.....Send her away every year and a half for a couple of weeks......document everything!  Like they say ´BUYER BEWARE´!  If you get married without a CC and then she asks for a divorce, your screwed.  The only way out possibly is for you to leave the country!  Use Trust, Corporations and LLC from outside the country to buy assets within the country .

A good friend of mine about 4 years ago had this happen to him and he left and went to Panama to not lose his assets.  She received NOTHING!

If you do get married if at all possible do NOT take out a government license for the marriage.  A little bit more difficult to do, but possible.   I did it in 2017 with the Hebrew Roots congregation marrying us without the license and 3 weeks later after the marriage I returned her to her parents in Cali and she had nothing to come againts me with.

Stop posting BS Agro. If you own the stuff before the marriage she has no title to it.

Anyway, best thing is to not own anything in Colombia, Punto Cerrado.

Well if its like Canada, they might award her alimony, But I doubt it if the marriage ended the day after the wedding.

You are right about not having the marriage registerd in Colombia oit is not valid in Colombia. I can attest to that.

So does that mean that the only way to do that is to convert to Judaism? And get married in the Synagogue? Hahahahahaha..........hey, whatever works......
