Unsecured connection on this website??

I sent in a message to the moderators and didnt receive a reply (at least 2 weeks ago).  Is everyone aware they dont use a secure connection, so all data is subject to theft and (from what I understand) we are also subject to hacking just by being on this site???  Facebook wont even allow you to use the "Login with Facebook" option because it is unsecure.  How can you have an unsecured site in 2018??

i have also seen this issue for quiet sometime now. Most of us have turned a blind eye to this, mostly  because we do not have a lot of personalize details of us over here.  As you can see, most do not use their real names or photos and expat.com does not ask much of personal data as compared to the many social media outlets now.

Nonetheless as you said, one could easily be hacked and some damages may come out of it, including identity theft and impersonation. I hope the expat moderators see this as a big problem and fix it ASAP.

Thanks for voicing out.

I agree.  I think it's a big enough issue that I would encourage them to pursue ads on the site if that's what it takes to cover the cost of a secure connection.

Hello everyone,

Just a quick update, you have perhaps noticed that since my post, we have migrated to https://www.expat.com

Hopefully, now you shouldn't be getting any alert message (Unsecured connection) and login with facebook should be easy. However, if you come across any issue, feel free to let us know.

But why take so long and have us use an unsecured site like this? Do you know that this is the 21st century. Does the Philippines always have to be 20 years behind the rest of the world?
