Rental law for non-residents

Did you know that if you rent a property in Malta or Gozo and you want to terminate your tenency early you can? The law is very clear on this matter, if you are a non-resident you are allowed to terminate your tenency on the grounds you are leaving to go back to your country. You only need to give 30 days notice to your landlord. Any remaining time on your tenency can be written off as long as all services are paid in full. Your deposit will be returned at landlords discretion.

Hope this helps

In the six years we have been here we have had 4 rental agreements and that has been written in to all of them. It is quite standard but the chances of getting a deposit back are very slim!
