Lifestyle in Bahrain

Dear all, I am mid-20s European citizen moving to Manama, Bahrain in September. Even though I never visited the city, I have been to Dubai several times and found myself at ease. Hence, I would like to ask you which are the places to hang out at night and the ones where I may be able to meet new people? Is the society open about foreigners moving into Bahrain? How is the equality between men and women (e.g. are relationships tolerated)? Is the city as safe as Dubai or is there be something that I should be aware of?
