Dependent visa extension or RP or Visitor visa

Dear friends,

I m from India and working in Brussels. I wil be staying here for a couple of years. My wife got her dependent visa for 6 months which will expire in couple of month. Since my wife works in UK, so she has got BRP of UK. She often comes n visits me but doesn't stay. I want to know that once her dependent visa expires, what option do we have?
1. Dependent visa extension? Is it possible?
2. RP (she doesnt stay here and holds british RP, so i feel it will be illiegal to keep RP of belgium too?
3. Tourist visa- this she wil have to apply every 3 months from UK, which is a hassle and expenses too..

Hi Seemit05 and welcome to https://www.expat.com, :)

For your first option,I invite you to read an older thread about Extension of spouse stay.

You may also go to Information on visas in Brussels forum where you can choose the discussions which you consider useful.
Hope this helps.

Best of luck.

1. No. Extension is not possible. D type visa is issued with the expectation that the visa holder will establish long term residence in Belgium and thus convert the visa to a residence permit.
2. Not sure about this. If UK authorities has no issues with this, I dont see a problem of her having a Belgian residence permit.
3. Yes, this is a hassle and expensive option.

Yes. Seems only RP is a option but wanted to know if having 2 RP is not violating any law.

Hi Team,

These threads dont cover the situation I have put here. It's not a plain exrension of visa but my wife holding british RP n working there and still for her to be able to visit me frequently some viable visa option I am looking for.
In normal cases, u can get a RP and get it renewed as per ur WP extension.

Hi Seemit,

So, What did you do finally in your wife case?
Did she apply for the visitor visa each time she visited you?
Could you provide an update on this?

Thanks
