I am going to Brazil for 3 weeks in July. Will the banks there accept my credit union debit card or should I just take cash?

Use your cards here, they will work. My credit union does, most ATMs will charge you R$24 each withdrawal. Use your cards in restaurants and shopping, normally run them as credit always.

Most ATM machines will accept your debit card. Be sure to let them know you will be traveling to Brazil. Same with credit cards. It's not safe to carry too much cash.
