Bringing car without residency visa

If im moving to DR but on visit visa untill things goes smoothly and get my residency visa,
Would i be able to ship my car to DR?
And if yes, Would i need to pay tax if i am still on visit visa and if yes, How much?
If i dont need to pay tax, for how long period that the car can stay in DR with my foreign number.

Because In Dubai for example if u have a car bringing it from your home country, U have one year untill u change it to Dubai registration and pay the 5% Tax.

How is it in DR.

You can but it will be very expensive. Car must be less than 5 years old and you must own it outright at least a year.

The taxes will be ridiculous honey. VAT is 18% plus duty (i think 20%) plus shipping and customs fees.

It is likely not worth it. And deoending on type it may be very hatd to find parts here.

Again depending on type, it may make you very noticeable and a target!

All around not likely a good idea.
