Dependent Visa for wife

I have been offered job in one of university in Leuven.. I just received work as well and now i am planning to initiated visa processing-
1.Any problem if i initiate dependent visa for my wife with me.
2.Is birth certificate mandatory as here in india for individual birth before 1989 birth certificate is not mandatory and 10th mark sheet can be used as proof.

1. No problem if you initiate visa application for your wife. In fact, you should both apply at the same time as the processing is less complex that way.
2. Birth certificate is mandatory. Belgian consulate has its own rules.

There are many threads in the visa section of Belgium forum which may be useful for you.: https://www.expat.com/forum/256-3-visas-belgium.html

Thanks a lot for your response !
Getting Birth certificate is time consuming process in Haryana. And i have to join within one month. Any other alternative for birth certificate which we can use in visa processing which take less time to get.

According to the official list of documents in Belgian foreign ministry website (http://india.diplomatie.belgium.be/site … 010bis.pdf), birth certificate is a mandatory document. The list does not mention any other document that can be used as a replacement for birth certificate. Also, based on experience, birth certificate is a mandatory document for dependents.

Do check with VFS. http://www.vfsglobal.com/Belgium/India/long-term.html if you need more info.
