Just read an article stating shipper's will be required to put recipient cedula number on shipping paperwork. Anyone else see this? I did not know you needed a cedula to receive packages. Apparently a big bunch of cash was confiscated, bringing on the new law.

I have reached out to two shippers to ask how this is being handled. My guessing is a passport will also work.

I will update when I find out more.

Yes Christie, I read it on DR1 newsletter.  What about the things currently in transit?  Law went into effect yesterday, May first.  It is still unclear how this will be enforced. Passports being made public is a scary idea.  If customs had been smart, they would have waited to see who came to pick up the  items containing the million bucks.  In their infinite wisdom, they decided to affect instead, millions of innocent people.

Last last week I shipped things down from N.Y. , customs  opened all my boxes and caused hundreds of dollars in damage. First time in 10 years !

They have stepped up searches for drugs and money entering the country!

I am still waiting for some answers and will update as soon as I have them.

I am told by  2 freight forwarders that either a cedula or a passport will work and you only provide when requested.

Tinker honey you can relax, its gonna be fine!
