Good places in the country - your recommendations (Oslo)

Hi folks,

Hope you're well. Thanks for looking at my post!

I have the potential to move to Oslo with work permanently in mid-September 2018.

Do you have any recommendations for places that are friendly, with good facilities and perhaps some eating places (understand Oslo is a good one for this)?

I will have a car, so have looked at places such as Asker, Røyken, Drammen and such...

I speak fluent Norwegian (through work) and am up for the challenge!

Thanks,
Tom

The question is how much is your budget?  Rent in Oslo city is so expensive but it is definitely better to stay in the city for accessbility to restaurants and facilities.

Drammen is becoming pretty nice and has facilities and restaurants aplenty but I definitely don't recommend it if you plan to commute by car, and if you need to go beyond the main train stations in Oslo. If you work at Asker or somewhere directly by the train stations on the west side it would work well though.

You could also look a bit further out along the fjord like Nordstrand or Holmlia. Lillestrøm is also a possibility.
