How to get job in Mauritius?

Hi experts,
Is there any chance to get job in Mauritius from outside of Mauritius? Is there any agencies in Mauritius they can help?

There's always a chance, albeit a very slim one of getting a job in Mauritius from outside of Mauritius!

Am also still searching...

I know the feeling!

Winston is it easier to get a job as an expat if actually in Mauritius or is it the whole expat thing which creates the problem?

TIA

Jackie

It's always harder to get a job when you are an expat, irrespective of whether you are applying from abroad or in Mauritius looking for a job.
The cost and administrative constraints are too much for most employers.

The easiest way to get a job is when the employers are specifically recruiting expats based on their profile for select economic sectors and if the expat happen to be in the right networking group.

There is also a salary requirement for expats, which i think is the biggest deterrent for companies to employ people from abroad. If it's less than a certain threshold, it makes it much less likely that you'll be granted a work permit.

Thanks for the information Winston and I guess I will just persevere.

You could try to contact the various reruitment agencies. One of them is Castille.

most of the BPO company are outsourcing companies and thus work in mauritius but clients are from abroad

You can try searching for international companies in Mauritius

I work for an international company and most of the team when we meet germans, spanish, swedish, turkish, russians - it is very hard to find them in Mauritius and thus, we need to relocate them to Mauritius and I will say that we have been doing this for quite a few years now as our business is growing and there is not much hassle in getting them here - the main problem is how to actually get in touch of those needing a job and wanting to relocate to mauritius.

Am interested in searching for  job in Mauritius be have had no joy so you think you can be of any assistance

Hi Sunnyboy84, what field is your company in. Are there perhaps any vacancies currently in Marketing?

Hi sunnyboy84
I would also be interested to know if there are any vacancies and in what fields

We have vacancies in the customer care department. It is a great platform to showcase your experience and expertise and grow within the company.

Hi Sunnyboy

I trust you are well !! Is your company looking in employing Afrikaans/English speaking people in Mauritius as I understand there is a lot of Afrikaans speaking people and companies in Mauritius. I am 100% fluent is both , both speaking and writing , both native. It will be just my wife and myself , no sibblings.

So much appreciated and blessings
Hennie

Do you know of anyone looking for someone fluent in Italian?

One of the main obstacles apart from the minimum salary for an Occupation Permit of Rp 60,000 per month for most industry sectors and Rp 30,000 per month for ICT sector is that many expats want the same salary that they were earning in their home country plus perks such as a housing allowance.  Whilst there are some companies that will pay that for critical jobs or management roles for people with the right skills and competences, they are not widely available.

Be realistic and work out what you are prepared to earn as a minimum.  Be willing to accept a local contract with local terms and conditions of service.

Look at the jobsites such as MyJob and CareerHub to see the type of opportunities there are.   You can also contact some of the international companies here who have jobs in your type of work and see if they have any openings.

With regards to language needs, many of the international companies have off-shored back office, project management and customer service or customer relationship management.  However some will want people who speak English and French.  Others may have a small number of jobs requiring other languages.

I agree with your suggestion...however some of us are willing to accept what may be available however securing a job itself is panning out to be so difficult, I the job sites suggested by yourself and the expats classifieds dont have option and even after applying for certain positions one does not hear back from them, would you have any other leads on how to secure employment on the island

At the end of the day, job search is much the same in every country and always more difficult if you are not a citizen or do not have the automatic right to reside in the country concerned.  As mentioned in previous threads, a lot depends on what skills you' have unless you are coming in as self employed or an investor.  Also the response rate from companies is probably not significantly different to many other countries.  Certainly job seekers in the uk make the same complaint about employers there.

If you are a graduate in ICT, Finance or Pharma with good experience, you are more likely to find something than other sectors.  If you don't work in those industries what specialist skills do you have that make you attractive to a potential employer that is not available locally.  I often see applications from people applying from outside Mauritius that have no relevant skills or experience of the jobs they are applying for so please be selective.  Also check  out the companies' websites as many have their own recruitment portal.

Dear Jkev

I trust you are well !! I have a degree and 21 years financial experience in the Banking Industry and 5 years financial experience as a FD of a logistics company. Can you help :-) I am leaving for Mauritius tomorrow for a business trip for a week.

Blessings

Is there any job related to childhood education and care or community sector management in Mauritius ?

@Cartnoire

Have you tried a Google search for teaching institutions, care facilities? Try this and then contact them directly. Or a straight job search.

Thank you so much. That will surely be helpful.
