A local is going to rent me a motor bike for a few months. Is it ok to only have a copy of the blue card on my possession?

I always kept photocopies of the bill of sale and insurance while my wife kept the originals in her purse. Like a lot of locals she never got the blue card as she would have had to do it in her official "hometown." The copies always seemed to be OK with the police the few times I was stopped while alone. You might want to inquire with the renter about the insurance on the bike.
