I had a dream and it was fulfilled.

When I was 16, I saw a National Geographic piece on the Blue Hole in Belize. I was charmed and immediately I made a goal to live in Belize when I was able.

Now, here it it 30 years later and that dream has been actualized in part, and I couldn't be more pleased.

This is a new adventure for me.

I've gone to college, married, had kids, worked, established corporations, wrote books, spoke at events, done all those things that create a life (and more) it seems sometimes (been there, done that, downloaded the video, right?), but to be here is brilliant. The color of the water on these shores is a turquoise I cannot get out of my head. When I go to the market stalls and buy fresh mangoes (4 for $1 USD) I am thrilled.

The people are the kindest, most loving people I have ever met in my life. And opportunities abound if you have a kind heart and generosity about yourself to give back.

I'm now in the stage of trying to decide how to sell of my home in the US and move here permanently. This is something I have absolutely decided I MUST do for this part of my life.

I have good friends fortunately who advise me on QRP and other legal matters.

I just want to say thank you to all of the people I have met so far here who have confirmed to me that my dream when I was 16 was not pie in the sky. :)

Hi BrainyBetty,

Hello BrainyBetty!!
Your story is identical to mine except that I had visited Barbados and have dreamed of living in the islands since age 20. I am now 48. I live in Canada and I am in the process of trying to open a branch of my business in Belize so that we can one day soon live there.  I am starved for information! LOL I am taking a trip to Belize in July . I want to make arrangements to get married in August in Belize. If at all you wish to help me with some information I would thank you kindly! I am interested in Ambergris Caye. I would like to rent a 2 bedroom apt. on the ocean, for 2 wks in June and then again for the whole month of August. Something very clean. Would you happen know of the cost and availability?
I am happy that you have realized your dream...must be so exciting!:)

I just re-read your blog and the area I have been researching is San Pedro. How is it there?

San Pedro is the most gorgeous town I have ever had the good fortune to visit. If you are seeking a GORGEOUS and unforgettable luxury beachfront digs for a vacation, check out: Grand Colony Villas [Moderated] I know the owner and some staff and have stayed at the Presidential suite (which I highly recommend for a special occasion like a wedding.) They'll definitely take care of you and yours!

I'm curious to know - what area of business are you in?

It's a great testimony, BrainyBetty.  I loved reading it and it encourages me.  We'll be moving to Belize this coming fall, in time to get our daughter, Stephanie, enrolled in the upcoming school year.  Thanks for the heart in your writing!
