My wife and I are thinking of living in Velachery. We have a budget of Rs 100,000 a month and would like to know if that is sufficient to live on. We will not be running a car, or eating out a lot, or going to movies and neither of us smoke or drink. So basically our money would be used for rent, bills and food. We would also like some information on how to go about finding decent accommodation. I'm willing to pay between Rs12,000 to Rs 15,000 a month rent. We would also like to know if Velachery is safe and friendly. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

If you are over 50 years of age, medical insurance premiums for a family of two will cost above Rs. 60000 per annum.
