Telecommunications in Singapore

Hello dear Members,

Can you please list some of the main Internet Service providers in Singapore? You may also include the cost related to their Internet subscription.

Another issue related to the telecommunication topic, is mobile plans. Can you please share with us:
>With which operator are you subscribed to?
>How are you finding their services?
>What kind of facilities do they offer?

Lastly, what is the best option according to you to make long distance calls in Singapore?

Your views/suggestions will be highly valued.

Wish you all a great day & thanks you in advance for your participation.

Here are a few of my tips:

Starhub is good for internet. We upgraded to the highest speed option as the basic was too slow. This is about $60.

We didn't do cable TV because we found we could get everything we needed on Netflicks, Hulu and on various network websites using our VPN service ($8 a month).

As for long distance, we had a Vonage VOIP phone in our previous home. We didn't cancel our phone when we moved. When we arrived in Singapore we just plugged it back into our modem and voila, we have the same phone number we've always had and we still have crazy cheap long distance.

We also have a super cheap Singtel data plan on an unlocked iphone 4 we bought outright from apple. It's an expensive initial investment but if you travel a lot it means you save thousands a year in roaming charges because you can just buy Sim cards and short term plans as you go along.
