Visiting Portugal on May 2018 - Questions...

My wife and I are visiting Portugal this May. Will be staying in Porto as well as in Cercal do Alentejo.

Would love suggestions/ideas of things to do to experience the TRUE Portugal culture and people.  Also, we are investigating Portugal as a possible retirement spot.

My wife and I are active (love bicyling/touring)... Anyone already living in Portugal that would like to meet while we are there to share experiences in Portugal, is appreciated. We will buy the coffee (or "Port")..

Obrigado..

Hello

I went to Alentejo and got a pleasant trip( about 1000 kms)  in the whole Alentejo... If you want , I  can give you some places to visit.  I do not know Porto... but Lisbonne and the Algarve very well

Any suggestions for Algarve area are appreciated.  Already booked a 1/2 day Jeep tour of  hills and backcountry...

Hi there, I live in Porto if you want to meet up and ask questions. I've been here nearly 4.5 years, moved from Toronto and also lived in the UK, USA, and Australia for comparison. May is typically a super-busy month (lots of flight deals bring visitors!), but with some notice I'm sure a meet-up can be arranged.

Thanks.... Any suggestions on things to do? We are taking the train ride inland and cruise on the Douros River back to Porto...  Do you owns/rent?  Looking at real estate prices as well while there.

If you want to email direct **

We own, but I wasn't part of the purchase process since my husband purchased before we met. But I can recommend some bilingual estate agents for Porto.

For activities in the Algarve, have you looked into ocean kayaking?

There's a company that specializes in activities in Portugal (there are lots, from hot air ballooning to arts workshops) and you can do a search by map:

For more backcountry stuff like off-roading, check out Dream Overland (José Almeida):

In Porto, you can also kayak the Douro River — these guys have a ton of experience:

Also from Porto, you can go to Peneda-Gerês National Park with these guys who are specialists (I was tree planting with them last year):

ok

Thank you..
