Hi everyone, we are in the process of going through the paperwork to relocate to the U.S. My husband, Tom, is American, I'm from South Africa and we have been living here. We are looking at the North Carolina area - Charlotte and surrounds including Asheville. We live in Cape Town and want somewhere that has a somewhat city feel but would like to live in an active community on the outskirts. Any info for us?

The state is retarded IMO. It's pretty there tho. It's mostly conservative, a lot of racism and general rednect activity. But collage kids are cool. In fact there's not destination I could recommend anywhere close to N.C. Get to the West Coast. Don't walk, run!
