Hi Gina, from what I am aware there is new private school opening in Guangzhou  in September.

Its called Fettes College.

I am not sure if it will be a boarding school. But it is a very good school, I went to this school myself but in Edinburgh. I know about this because I went to school with the guy who is opening this school In South China and the owner of BrightScholar. Most teacher will be British Educated (from what I heard) and my old headmaster Mr Spence will be the opening headmaster.

From what i understand HK to Guangzhou commute will be 45 min. They are close to finishing the route.

Good luck

Hi everyone,
We're an American family living in Shenzhen since last August. Shon teaches high school English, Jenia does some freelance work.

Hi there! My name is David. My wife, Crysta, and I as well as our two children will be moving to Qingdao in August for her to begin a job as an ESL Teacher. We are very excited for this adventure and hope to meet a lot of great people along the way!

Hello All,

I am Amit from India.
I am planning to move to shanghai soon for a job offer.
Hoping to meet some nice and friendly people there during my stay.

Hello!

My name is Erika and I currently live in Los Angeles. I'm in the process of applying to teaching positions in China (mostly in Beijing and Shanghai) with a couple recruiting firms. I've applied to a few that I'm very excited about, so I'm hoping to hear from those first. I've lived abroad once before when I was in the Peace Corps. I taught literacy in Guyana.

I'm hoping to use this site and forum to help me integrate and also find a friendly community of people willing to share experiences and get me out of my comfort zone once I'm settled.

Look forward to talking and getting to know more about China as a whole!

My Chinese wife and are going back to China to build our American International student business and I am looking for advise on these areas's. What is the best tier one city to live in as well as to do educational business? Since I am 57 years old would also appreciate any information as to which city has the best medical services and should I carry some added medical insurance while in China, my Cigna plan does not cover me Internationally. I have been to China four times in the last 13 years but have not been to China in four years so I am sure a lot has changed since then, so not sure what to ecpect on this trip for unforeseen events, any advise would be helpful. I am 6'3” so travel will be interesting I am sure. I did pest control for large food plants so I know all about food safety standards, kinda of a mixed blessing because I know how food should be treated but also very concerned about food safety too on this trip, over cautious I guess. Would like to build up long term friendships with Expats and Chinese who speak English since my linguistic skills are not the best, but trying the best I can to learn Chinese. We will be heading to China June 6th so advise would be great. Thanks everybody.

Hello, I'm Valerio from Italy. I'm a filmmaker working in Saigon (Vietnam) at the moment, but there is a chance I will  move in China to follow heart :kiss::)
I would like to go in Xiamen or Shenzhen so I'm looking for advices about "what to do and how" to find a job in those cities.
I want to continue working in the video field but i think that if i will not find something fastly i could teach italian in the meanwhile.
So my key words are FILMMAKING (this is the main goal) and TEACHING. I can't go in China to work as a waiter and I heard that schools are looking for italians in this period :)
Any help to look for a job from Vietnam before leaving?
What if I don't have a job and I'm already in China?
Which are the obstacles?

Thank You in advance

We need to organise:

Any help or guide welcome. We have a good relationship with our agents who will help us also.

Hi,

I am Stephen - I studied abroad in Beijing twice.  The first time I fell in love with the city - the second time I fell in love with its people and their culture.  I'm a recent graduate with not too much experience but want to set my sights on moving and working in Beijing in two to four years.  Since I'm recently graduated, I'm still open to many options, and want to see what those are - including graduate school, different types of jobs (I do know teaching English is an option), and industries where I might be in high demand.  I've got consulting experience, but also some film background!

Looking forward to meeting former, current, and (hopefully) future expats and joining the community online so that I can join you all in person!

Natively fluent in English, almostly fluent in Mandarin, absolutely fluent in loving China.

Warm Regards,
Stephen
