Hi everyone
Do you know any foreign company here in Xiamen that I can apply for a part-time work? I tried to call some private English school; unfortunately, I am only holding an X2 VISA so it is impossible for them to hire me. I want to work while studying so I can support myself. Your help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi,
It is against the law if you work outside of a Z-visa. Most companies will no longer take the risk.
It wasn't always this way, but "bad actors" have taken advantage of the system and made it difficult for the rest of us. I would suggest you come, but give up any hope of working it China. It's not going to happen.

The year is 2018. It is true that ten years ago in 2008 you could come to China on a tourist visa and work illegally. You would just have a company make some "arrangements". This continued into 2012 and around 2013 steps were taken to prevent this.
It's a serious issue and not one to taken lightly. If you are found to be working and paid by a Chinese company you will be arrested and escorted out of the country.
If you want to work in China, but cannot get a Z-visa, you can set up a WOFE. Then work in that organization. You will need to do Chinese tax reporting and maintain a physical office address. It's a expensive work-around, but it is feasible.
Otherwise, I would suggest you go to Vietnam, Cambodia, or Laos and try to find work. Thailand has also cracked down on abuses of this system.
