It is here and it is hell this year. Currently they estimate 3 million people here have it. Yup gripe is here.

It seems to be everywhere in various forms. I have had it for 10 days. I worked and danced through it and paid the price. Full blown upper respiratory infection now.

Advice

If you get it lay low.
Wash your hands often.
Don't run to the friggen clinic unless you are at risk. For most it's just a virus.
Treat the symptoms.

This too shall pass!

Bob will have more advice seeing how he is a doctor!!!

Ok I am going back to bed!

Not sure, but my new family all had something that included stuffed sinus. Sitting here Cabarete at the Hotel Algeria  until Monday morning and have what i was thinking is bad indigestion. Hope you are all feeling better by the time it is sunny again......

Fred

As a real man, I simply ignore any symptoms and carry on as normal. :D

planner

Ah  yes real men hahahaha

Another cultural norm Dominican men get sniffles and the world comes to a standstill.

Bob K

Yep it is here. House staff has it. Me or Pat not so far.
Planner right it is a virus so treat it symptomatically.  Antibiotics will do nothing for viral Gripe

Not sure if its common knowledge but in upper Mahattan has the largested concentration of Dominicans in the U.S.
Imagine Santiago being transported and placed above 155th street. Many people are sick right now and its not the normal flu. Many people travel back and forth from NYC to DR. It seems to have a 3 week life span. As long as it is not chikungunya ( which I thought i was going to die from I'll take it ! ) include plantans which are a terrific source of vitamins and minerals and stay away from sports drinks which are high in sodium to hydrate. Also to put mangos with their skin on into a blender with coco juice and a little yogurt to control sugar spikes . This is not medical advise , this what many Dominicans do since they can not afford to pay a doctor's visit.
Feel better

Bob K

Actually New York is the second largest Dominican City.

Please go www1.nyc.gov and send me to your reference. None malious discourse I welcome. Remember, I stated in the U.S. , this does not include Santo Domingo. The main points are natural remedies and that when an illness which is airborn not vector-borne it is easily transmitted by people who constanly go back and forth from DR to NYC and NYC to DR thus we have the same symptoms.

Well Bob was not disagreeing with you honey!

Please re read his post . I respect the work and the position that you and others have on the forum . I know that you all have been doing this for years and are probally good friends. This is not a case of " who's button is bigger and that it works ". I am not a petty person but I will respond when confronted in a respectful manner. If this is not appropriate  , please let me know. I respect people fiel to their friends despite the facts.
Moving forward ,
We live in  countryside and the life there is different than the coast but I will be on the north coast on Monday for a couple of weeks. If I haven't been ostrosized , I would enjoy meeting people on the coast from this site.

I too am confused. Bob K was confirming what nosnownyc wondered ...if we knew that there are a lot of Dominicans in NYC... here's where emojis can be helpful 😀

Nosnownyc

Sounds good to me .I wasn't aware that asking someone where they got their facts from would be un escándalo ? Consider me chilled upon your suggestion.

Bob K

Wow all I was doing was confirming that New York City has a HUGE Dominican population.

And now we are back to playing nice.

Sometime language is a barrier or at the very least cimplucates things.

Sorry I won't be around this Monday but I will be on the north coast next Monday!
