Travelling to Barbados for a few months. Looking for advice on how to use my cell phone. AT&T has the $10 a day plan - Does anyone have any suggestions/advice/recommendations on what to do? Do I get a new phone plan over there or try to work with AT&T or something?

You might be best off buying a SIM card for $20 Barbados, and it includes 10 minutes call time. This is prepaid of course and assuming that your phone is unlocked. There are three providers on the island that I know of, Digicel, Flow, and Ozone. Data minutes are also reasonable at least for me. $10 USD a day is a bit expensive. International calls are reasonable. Even if you had to buy a throw away, it might be cheaper.
