No work permit for EU citizens required from 1.April

Hi all,

According to an article in MaltaToday as of 1. st April 2011 EU citizens do not need a work permit to work in Malta. You do need to register to avoid paying the fee for the permit. So nothing has really changed.

Interestingly the article also talks about fears of a ' brain-drain' from Malta. The author seems to think that the highly qualified Maltese workforce will be leaving and be replaced by a less qualified workforce from EU countries ( see title :End of EU working restrictions in May could lead to brain drain).

I have a rather different opinion. What do you think? Thanks for your comments.

Ricky

Hello Ricky, nice to see ya again
I am "of the same" opinion of the Author, this is going to be very risky for the country ;)
Let's see maybe they will allow non-EU Permanent residents to work in Malta as well lool
non-EU PR do not need to work in Malta, but they would probably invest in developing business sector if they are authorized to do so while keeping the same taxation advantages
Ciiiiisk (cheeers)

Well of course Ricky, Malta is just full of experts! Just full of brain surgeons, rocket scientists and what not. That's probably half the population gone already. At least!
