Trump/Israel NOT POLITICAL

Feel free to post any news, information, embassy warnings or other on topic content, but not political opinion.

We have a confirmation Trump has declared a new official capital of Israel as far as the US is concerned, and heard the reactions from around the world.
That leaves Americans (and anyone white) in a greater danger of violence in many countries, Indonesia included.
This isn't about the rights and wrongs of his move, but all about the very likely increased danger to anyone who looks as if they could be American.
I fully expect demonstrations with a lot of shouting and screaming but I also expect terrorist attacks against western targets here.
I would strongly recommend not wearing anything that could single you out as a possible American and being careful of your surroundings, watching out for suspicious activity from people around you.

TEMPO.CO, Jerusalem - America`s friends and foes unleashed fierce criticism on Wednesday ahead of President Donald Trump`s announcement recognizing Jerusalem as Israel`s capital.

While Israel welcomed the news, Palestinian officials declared the Mideast peace process "finished" and Turkey announced it would host a meeting of Islamic nations next week to give Muslim countries' leaders an opportunity to coordinate a response. The Arab League scheduled an emergency meeting on Saturday.

Please note, I have deliberately NOT expressed my opinion of the move and don't want this thread to be political either way so posts expressing support or otherwise will likely be removed.

Hi Fred,

The confirmation has been done by Trump suddenly, we also do not know what will happen in Indonesia, the possibility of a big demonstration turned into anarchist like  blind bulls, because the people here could be so black out what lies ahead.

This will happen here as well as any city in the world is very worrisome.

Cheers,

Zanzio

Whilst I am sure there will reaction to the news, I would think that a demonstration would take place at some point and like the issue with Myanmar and the talk of sending weapons, troops and anyone else that wanted to go and sort it out, it never happened. There was a little bit of noise in the press after the demonstration outside its embassy but then nothing.

The demonstration won't affect most people here and if there is trouble then it will be in around JL Merdeka and the US embassy in Jakarta and maybe the consulate offices in Indonesia and again I am sure the security and fences have already been stepped up.

Whilst Indonesia condemns this move, there are bigger things at stake for those involved so lets just wait and see.

I'm pretty sure the majority of it will be demonstrations and a lot of shouting but we all know there's a extremist section out here just waiting for an excuse to bomb Starbucks or anything else that came out of the US.
I wouldn't be too shocked to see the news about some pointless morons getting shot by the police after a bomb and gun attack.

Perhaps a weather eye just in case wouldn't be a bad move.

This first step was fully expected. No demonstrations advertised as yet but it's still early days.

Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The Jakarta Metro Police Officers have heightened their security patrols around the vicinity of the Embassy of the United States in Jakarta, following US President Donald Trump`s controversial decision to recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel.

"We are increasing security through patrol services," Chief of Jakarta Metro Police Public Relations Division High Commissioner, Argo Yuwono, stated in Jakarta on Thursday.

He noted that Jakarta Metro Police Headquarters has not received notice for any plans for rallies at the US Embassy on Friday from any member of the public.

Although they have not yet received any notifications, the Jakarta Police officers remain on guard and are on standby by patrolling around the US Embassy in the Central Jakarta area.

In addition to the Officers for Vital Objects, Yuwono noted that the Jakarta Metro Police have added more personnel for patrol activities at the US Embassy.

Previously, Trump took the sudden decision to recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel on Wednesday (Dec 6).

The decision sparked criticism from Palestinians and a number of countries, some of which even considered ignoring the warnings of riots in the Middle East.

The Indonesian government has also strongly condemned the US government`s decision, as it is believed that it will affect the stability of world.

This is the bit that doesn't matter

Sadly, yes.

It would be a good idea to avoid that area on the seventeenth.
