Hi, I am an Indian. I was on maid visa in Muscat. I was taking care of omani kids at my sponsor house due to financial problems. Initially my husband was working in Muscat and I was on family visa not working( did not get any job due to no ladies visa). Later my husband lost his job and went back to India and for financial stability I stayed with good omani family and came on maid visa to oman as I knew my sponsor since sometime and he was ready to help me in return of taking care of his kids.
I took care of his kids for 1 year. Now my husband has moved to Dubai and started working again and i am planning to start working in Dubai as I am a graduate and well qualified to do professional jobs. So i left Muscat in September 2017 and came back to India. My sponsor did not cancel my visa telling that it will be automatically cancelled in 6 months. Now i came to know that i should cancel oman visa to get work visa in Dubai.
So I am planning to go to Muscat on my maid visa in December and tell my sponsor to cancel this visa. And then travel to Dubai on visit visa. Is it possible to travel directly to Dubai from Muscat after visa cancellation or i need to do exit to India first and then travel to Dubai? Please advise?

Hi My dad,

It is distressing to hear of your plight.

I do not, for the life of me, understand why a few of the mostly lovable Omanis turn vicious and vile when it comes to dealing with the expat housemaids coming from a certain part of the world. Is it some cultural stigma ? some scar ?

Please stay strong and be bold. You can report your ill-treatment to the Royal Oman Police (ROP) and the Ministry of Manpower. They are there to protect the safety and human rights of all expatriates.

In addition, you can contact some social welfare organisation and human rights welfare group who could mediate and intercede on your behalf.

Let your employer / sponsor know that they have pushed you to the edge and you will not hesitate to report about their atrocities to the authorities. That should put some fear in them.

Good luck, and you will be fine, soon.

Take care.

My dad

Thank you so much
