Traffic in Sri Lanka

Hello everyone,

Which city or area do you live in in Sri Lanka, and how do you find the traffic?

How long does it take to commute to work or run errands?

Is there a rush hour in your city? What times of the day would you recommend people to avoid driving if they can?

Are there any ways to avoid spending too much time in traffic in Sri Lanka?

What is parking availability and cost like?

Thank you for sharing your experience.

Priscilla

Perhaps the one of the worst places to drive
In South Asia that Colombo Tuk's and buses
the worst offenders the vehicle drivers es have
no manners and show little respect for others
on the road, buses often coming up to.within
Inches from the, rear of most vehicles hooting
there horns
There's going to be unmarked police cars
monitoring vehicles,in the future imposing
heavy fines
Do not travel in the morning rush hour traffic.or at about early afternoon when the school traffic
Is on the road unless you want to experience
long delays in reaching you destination.

Recently Google enabled their live traffic updates to feature on Google maps for Sri Lanka. From now onward, when you check a route on Google maps on a busy Colombo neighbourhood, you will see a heat map overlay to signify how intense is the traffic jam on the road you are planning to take.
don't travel in the morning 7.30-9.30 and evening 4.30-6.30 these time you can better to go on the train.

Driving in Sri Lanka is worse than in Rom. If you are a good driver you will manage !!!
You have to be flexible - have good nerves - be patient.... Rushing hours in Kandy are from 06.30-08.00 and 12-15 hrs again after 4.30pm.

Thanks for posting

you are welcome
