Howdy guys !

I just found this site. My girlfriend is Californian. She just moved in here with me, right after she finished her degree in the UK (and I'm a very lucky boy !)

However, after 7 monthths here, adjusting, surviving winter, touring on weekends, and taking french classes, I'm afraid she misses talking to americans... Sharing experience and stuff... Or simply shopping...

Anybody interested ?

Btw, I'm a pure belgian, eventhough my mum is mexican and added a spicy touch to my personality. I can speak fr/eng/span and understand dutch.

Welcome on the forum cocoscar ;)

May be the American expatriates in Belgium network can help you & your girlfriend to find some American contacts.

Where do you/she live, and what exactly is it you're looking for? And how come she didn't post this?

Hi everyone!

I'm the Californian girlfriend that cocoscar speaks of.  He found this site late last night when I was already asleep and just told me about it.

As he mentioned, I moved to Belgium about 7 months ago and I'm still adjusting to life here.  Although I've met some of my boyfriend's friends, I find that I am often the odd one out as the only native English Speaker, as conversations are often in French or Spanish.  It has been a bit lonely... so I'm just looking for the chance to meet new people/make some English-speaking friends of my own.

Right now we are living in Huy.

dancchica530 not sure what to advise, except learn both French and Spanish. I know how you feel, but the sooner you try to adjust, the better. From another prospective - you are lucky to be able to mix with the locals and learn the language that way, the habits, the people in general. Take advantage of that. It will make you feel better. Huy is a bit of a distance from Brussels.

Ah, hey dancchica. I'd be happy to be friends or whatnot, but don't live in your area, I'm up north in Antwerpen, sorry.
