Paying bills in Singapore

Hello everyone,

What bills do you pay? If you are renting, are bills included in the price of rent, and is this common practice in Singapore?

How can you pay your bills (e.g. online, at provider's store, at the post office)? Which is the most convenient or reliable way?

With what frequency are different bills sent in Singapore? Are there different deadlines for payment?

Thank you for sharing your experience.

Priscilla

Hi Priscilla,

My bills are as follows:

- credit card bills
- internet
- mobile phone
- electricity
- water

It is quite easy to make payments, you can do it online for some or pay it at a convenience store. There is also a popular way of payments via AXS machines. Some details here - http://www.axs.com.sg/ (you can pay all bills via your bank NETS card)

Another easy way which i handle them is to use the General Interbank Recurring Order (GIRO), which is an automated electronic payment service which allows you to make payment to the billing organisation from your bank account. It deducts the amount in full every month from your bank account for whatever is due. The onus is on us to ensure there are sufficient funds. It's easy to use and hassle free.

Most bills have a monthly billing cycle with different deadlines. There are ways to synchronise these dates but these will be at the discretion of the billing organisation.

Good luck
