Hello everyone,

What bills do you pay? If you are renting, are bills included in the price of rent, and is this common practice in Canada?

How can you pay your bills (e.g. online, at provider's store, at the post office)? Which is the most convenient or reliable way?

With what frequency are different bills sent in Canada? Are there different deadlines for payment?

Thank you for sharing your experience.

Hello,
Bills are just normal as anywhere else. Some are paid biweekly others monthly. Yes, if you miss bill payments there will be extra money to pay as penalty. Missing bills affect your credit rating.

Bills can be paid through mail using a cheque, online or by visiting a bank branch.

Bills are pretty much the same as in other countries :
electricity (called Hydro),
water (usually combined with electricity bill),
gas (for heating),
taxes (property depending if you own a house/condominium),
personal taxes (if your employer does not deduct at source),
property or auto insurance (very high auto insurance for new comers)

Hope this helps
