How best to help from the States

If anyone has suggestions for the best means of donating, can you post them here?  Although we have amazoned some food to Vieques and donated batteries and other items to local collections, I'm not sure how long it will take to reach their destinations.  Does anyone know the best organization for cash donations?

Also, it would be good to have a list of most desperately needed items.  We have already donated batteries and battery operated lights, flashlights, paper products and diapers + baby wipes.  Any other suggestions?
