The current immigration department rule is that if you receive a job offer, you will have to leave Malaysia while the application for a work permit of some type (Foreign Worker or Professional Pass) is being processed. This takes about 2-3 months, because a Visa with Reference is also required to re-enter, which can take up to 2 months to finalise.

For these reasons it may be a better option to try to apply for as many jobs as possibe before you travel to Malaysia in the hope of arranging some interviews on arrival. Getting a job via a Skype interview is the best solution in terms of cost and time.
