Buying a PC in Puerto Plata

My friend who lost her home and sadly her youngest son to a house fire in May needs a PC for her oldest son.
Her family and friends have rebuilt the home and replaced many things(Thank you Planner for telling me that's how things work in DR) but her son in 7th grade needs a PC for school. I'm all for kids and education as a way up so I want to get them a PC but don't know what to do. Bring one from US, ship one or send money to buy one there.
I have known this family a long time and she is not playing me.
Any advice welcome.

Hi Phil. So while I applaud your wanting to help I have never heard of a 7th grader needing a PC, wanting one yes, needing one no

That being said a PC is easy to find and reasonably cheap. Not cheap like there but cheap. IT will cost more than the value to ship one here.

I agree no 7th grader "needs" a computer here. We bought two for our "girls" who we support in a private school here and they did not "need" one till the High school level and even then there was a difference between need and convenience.
