Internet access in Mombasa

Hi,

Is internet access only found in internet cafes within Mombasa? Or do apartments (long term rentals) have internet access?

How is the speed and quality?

Welcome on Expat.com Ncvbe ;)

I hope that other forumers will bring their input soon.

Regards

buy a modem dude!its only kes.150 to surf per month with orange or kes.1000 with safaricom

Thanks, I'm not sure which kind of modem you are referring to though (there are many kinds)

also, how is the speed and quality in general? I imagine it would be fairly poor?

I work online & am thinking of a stay in kenya so these details are crucial for me, thanks!

Internet conn available in CC and also can be subcsribed to at home.

Hi,

Why would you assume that speed/quality would be poor Ncvbe?  I think the previous post was referring to a dongle.  Most of the mobile networks (Safaricom, Orange, Airtel, for example) offer a service, with a variety of packages.  Probably your best option, if you are not staying long, as these are mainly pay as you go services.

You can also access the internet via a mobile phone, using bluetooth - ironically, this often works better and is quite low cost.
