Festivals in Puerto Rico

Hello everyone,

What are the main festivals in Puerto Rico? Are there art, food, music, film, or other festivals expats can attend and participate in?

When do the festivals take place? How long does each festival usually last?

What activities go on during the festival? Is it necessary to buy tickets?

Are there any other events that take place in Puerto Rico that shouldn't be missed?

Thank you for sharing your experience.

Priscilla

For exclusive events you will need to buy tickets, sometimes in gustazos.com a week before they drop down in prices and you could get them cheaper. While others are free of charge.

There's several sites where they give you ideas on what to do during the weekend:

Not really a festival, but every Saturday from 8AM-Noon in OSJ is a farmers market  at the Museo de San Juan on Calle Norzagaray.  The have all sorts of fruits, vegetables, juices, herbs, flowers, seeds, and probably the best pumpkin bread I have ever tasted.  We would go every week, then go stroll along the Paseo de la Princesa.

That's always nice!
We love to go there on a Sunday and watch the older couples dance salsa and merengue.

There's usually lots of festivals and activity along the Paseo, especially during the weekends - art shows, crafts, concerts, and like Gary said, dances.
