How to save money in Taiwan

Hello everyone,

Did you plan your budget before your move to Taiwan? If so, how did you go about it?

How do you save money in your day to day life? Do you find there are any areas where you can't cut costs?

Do you have any tips about saving money in Taiwan? For example, getting the best deals on accommodation, grocery shopping and dining out, the best value transportation, etc..

Are there any apps or websites that have helped you to save money?

Thank you for sharing your experience.

Priscilla

Hi Priscilla. Everything is cheaper, here, than in Florida, USA. (That s where I am from), but it's still good to stick to a budget.  Saving money would not be  a problem (the whole of Asia is like that - presently, I'm living in Vietnam); you may be tempted to eat out every day because restaurant meals, here, are cheap but it's healthier to cook sometimes.
In Taichung, Taiwan you could ride the bus for free as long as you don't travel more than 8 km (it's a very congested country so u could get to many places within 8 km).
For housing, you could apply for jobs that include free housing for teachers . Not all jobs offer this.
