Thought not a complete cultural foreigner (inter-U.S. relocation) there are always differences. However I found Virginians to be very friendly and welcoming. If you where moving to a backwater town (unlikely) things might be a bit more complex, not necessarily worse just different. But as a whole I made more friends while in VA, and more easily, than during any other of my 11 moves.
