Car purchase

You'll need to make sure the person you buy it from is able to fill out the car registration document in your name and address, and indeed produce the deed to prove it's still not under finance. In terms of setting up the deal, it will be exactly the same as buying a car anywhere else in the world. My firs thought, if I was new to Thailand, would be to get a local with a good grasp of Thai/English (or whatever your native tongue), preferably with automotive experience to speak to them online to set up a meeting and then accompany you to inspect the vehicle.

Once purchased it seems you'll need the usual road tax and insurance, plus a couple of other bits of red tape.
