Canggu

Kind of buzzing, I like the suasana there.. Almost everything you need you can find there.
It is full enough to be safe and comfortable (not too far away stores, food etc).
And it is not yet Kuta.
Also Near Denpasar city centre.. so I guess it might be the position.
The beach there is also quite decent.
But last few times I went there there was a lot of traffic jam. A friend who is staying there is also complaining about that. With a car it seems to be a real downer.

Man there are a lot of reasons, but it seems to be very crowded with westerners already. Depends what you are looking for.
If you could share what you are envisioning I could try and help you to narrow down your choices.
