Mistakes expats make in Australia

Hello everyone,

Did you make any mistakes when you first moved to Australia? What were they?

How did you address your mistakes? Did you learn anything from them?

With hindsight, what would you do differently?

Are there any tips you could give future expats in Australia to help them avoid these kinds of mistakes?

We look forward to hearing from you!

Priscilla

We moved into a neighborhood that wasn't a great fit for us.  It is lovely and safe, but not in hind sight, I think we could have chosen better.  We felt very rushed when we moved here to find a place because of the cost of staying in serviced apartments and the desire to get the kids started with school.  We found the whole process of finding a place to rent very stressful with high prices and limited viewings and the need to make decisions quickly.

Move without securing a job first!!!!  Better be invitated to a party...

Not to forget: Australia is sovereign nation with its citizens, Universities and Companies... they will always come first.

Migrant's identities, Universities and experiences come second if they come at all!
