Find a dependable taxi driver, which is almost impossible, because they are so irresponsible. I actually have two. Return to restaurants where you are served and treated decently because many Hondurans will not serve "gringos." Be as polite as possible, but do not tolerate Honduran rudeness, for example cutting in the line in front of you! Try to converse, even if your Spanish is limited. Hondurans love to talk.

Buy the police a cup of coffee! They really appreciate it and they do a good job of protecting tourists and foreigners. Public transportation overall is crazy and do not take it at night! If you love roller coasters you will love public bus rides. There are different clases of bus service for national or international bus trips. I will not provide any names, however there are some very good bus lines. There are flights to the islands, if you get sea sick.

Take care of your stomach and it is wise to take amoeba and anti-parasitic medicine from time to time. Remember most of Honduras is quite hot, although there are cooler mountainous regions, so know where you are going to prepare for the weather.

Hope this is helpful!
