personally, i have found that once you are involved in a specific slovak community (be it church or work) they are very open and willing to be friends with you. i have found an abundance of hospitality through my job and can honestly say the hospitality here may be better than in texas.
I guess if anything I would say avoid being too loud… and… drink with them. The more you seem willing to learn their language the more likely they are to open up (for instance, a simple dobry den can go a long way)

Yeah, this really works. Slovaks are very nice and heartly people, mainly when they're drunk.
