08:00 - WEATHER: ENAWO is a tropical cyclone with average winds near the center of 165 km / h, gusts of 200 km / h and a pressure at its center of 961 hPa Being 14.1 South / 54.4 East or 440 km from the northeast coast of Madagascar. ENAWO is expected to continue to intensify along a westward-to-southwest trajectory within the next 12 hours. With a deadline of a little more than 24 hours a landing on Madagascar is always planned and it is necessary to follow the evolution of the official bulletins, ENAWO presenting a real and serious threat because among others winds of the order of 200 km / h , But also intense rains and a storm surge should affect Madagascar

and this on Sunday

Urgent - 14h13 CYCLONE ALERT: ENAWO moves very slowly towards the South at 4 Km / h. At 12 local hours, its center is positioned 698 Km in the North-east of Antalaha. It is accompanied by a wind of 83 km / h alternating with instantaneous gusts of 120 km / h around the center. This evening, it will retrace its trajectory in the direction of West to get closer to the northeast coast of the country. It is expected to intensify gradually over the weekend and likely to become a powerful cyclone. ENAWO will land between Antalaha and Toamasina on Monday 06 March in the night or on the morning of Tuesday, 07 March. Then she will continue her journey along the central highlands of the country. The warning notice (green alert) issued yesterday remains valid for: Antsiranana I-II, SAVA, ANALANJIROFO and ATSINANANA. Maritime users are advised that the sea will become very rough from this evening. The wind will also increase from Sunday afternoon.

I think it is important to inform our neighbors and employees of the cyclone that is coming soon.  Many of our neighbors do not have electric so they do not have T V and some have radios but lack batteries at times.
Those of us who have access to news have the responsibility to share this information in a  quiet  Malagasy manner .  Employees also should be given time off work to help protect their homes and families.

Stay safe, especially  to those at ground zero on the east coast.

Keep us updated to the severity of the storm if possible

I asked my maid, noon on Monday what she knows about the Cyclone Enawo--
She knew nothing and this was the first she heard of this and asked when was it coming.
She has T V and Radio and boyfriend/house mate neighbors that have not said nothing.

Now she has a story to tell her neighbors.

Strengthening storm Enawo heads toward Madagascar

This is from Africa times  that also has a nice graphic

Here is the article

Tropical cyclone Enawo continues to track westward towards Madagascar, where meteorologists expect a landfall on Tuesday.

According to Meteo France La Réunion, the cyclone at 4 a.m. Monday was located 755 kilometers to the north of Reunion and moving to the west-southwest. Conditions remain favorable for continued strengthening, and Enawo is likely to hit Madagascar as an intense tropical cyclone.

Although subject to changes in timing and precise location, the current models forecast a Tuesday landfall on the northeast coast of the island nation, between the town of Sambava and the smaller offshore island of Nosy Boraha (Île Sainte-Marie).

The storm is expected to curve southward along the eastern island coast before weakening.

The Joint Typhoon Warning Center (JTWC) said the cyclone – mapped at about 393 nautical miles north-northwest of Port Louis, Mauritius, for their most recent advisory – continued to move slowly west at 5 knots, or about 9.25 kilometers per hour.

Winds are now at 90 knots (167 kilometers per hour), and both JTWC and Meteo France report the formation of an eye within the well-organized storm as it moves over warm waters of 29-30C. Wind and atmospheric conditions support continued intensification with estimated winds of 213 kph at landfall.

Enawo remains a dangerous major storm, and may reach the equivalent of a Category 4 hurricane status before making landfall with expected wind speeds in at least the Category 3 range. In addition to winds, rain and flooding are significant hazards.

40 second video The intense tropical cyclone ENAWO generates average winds of 170 km / h and gusts up to 240 km / h around the center. ENAWO is currently less than 300 km north-east of the town of Antalaha.
On Maroantsetra it already rains a great deal, and the winds are quite violent.

Cloudy all day here in Mahajanga, and now from 6pm on there are small waves of rain and now at 7:30 pm the rain is a bit stronger but not much in the way of wind.

Mahajanga 12 hours later at 6:30am   Only a steady light rain all night not much wind. A strong wind usually knocks electric and electric was on all night.  Now this morning the skies are partly cloudy  and no rain at the moment and little to no wind.  Nice and cool here and very comfortable for me but the locals will be wearing jackets or extra clothes to keep warm.
Reports say we are only to get 3 to 4 inches today  so we will see what happens as the day progresses.

Mahajanga- 5pm  nice breeze and cloudy all day,  but not one drop of rain all day- I put out rain buckets to catch water and they are all dry.

Now at 6am in Mahajanga and as I look to the east and south, I see partly cloudy skies.
Nice and cool but no rain.  Last night we had about 1 1/2 inches and not much in the way of wind. Right now it is totally calm.
Not much in the way of any cyclone activity in this area in the last couple of days.

Mahajanga still falls far short of in the amount of rainfall this season.

There is another tropical system in the Indian Ocean 1500 km of La Reunion.

5pm in Mahajanga--no rain, no wind and sunny all day.
Dirt roads I drive on are drying up with some small puddles.
