Travelling to Ozamiz

I am getting ready to travel to Ozamiz in March, I may stay for some time or may come to Davao afterwards.   I have heard that area has some activity of extremist and I am a little bit concerned for my safety for there if I stay for a while.  I am ex-military and I know that of course being stupid is not a good idea when visiting overseas (as well as any where).  I will be careful as much as possible, but the activity of extremist worries me a little.  I know foreigners visit the area for short periods of time and they seem very happy to have made the trip, but if I stay there for any lengthy amount of time then do I need to be more concerned?

You have to be careful wherever you go, in almost all  countries of the world.  Do not be conspicuous in your dress or free when discussing your financial  business.  If you don't have money, you have less risk, but, still, you have to be alert in your dealings with people, especially in Mindanao.
