Availability/cost/ of medicine and medical/opthalmic care

I put drops in my eyes 2x daily for glaucoma. Can anyone speak on the availability/cost/ of medicine and medical/opthalmic care in Ecuador? Is it available in all cities?

Dear Utiforo,

Welcome to the Ecuador forum.

Anyone who has specialized medical needs should understand this...

The best medical facilities and doctors in the Expat-friendly cities of Ecuador are in Quito and Cuenca, in that order.

The Hospital Metropolitano de Ecuador, which is in Quito, can assist Expats with practically any condition or illness known to the medical world.  Doctors who can communicate with English-speaking patients are available.

You would do best not to worry about “all cities,” as no Expat would know about every city .. and you wouldn't want to trust your health to what's available in Nalgas del Cerdo, Sucumbíos, in any case.
