American Legion Post 10
Costa Rica's first American Legion post, Post 10 in Escazú, holds its meeting now at noon on the first Wednesday of the month. The post, chartered in 1957, has been revitalized with the addition of more than 20 new members, said a press release. Any former member whose membership has lapsed is welcome to rejoin, it said. The meetings are at the Bello Horizonte Country Club in Escazú, and any veterans of a uniformed service are invited to attend, the release said. League for Peace
Women's International League for Peace and Freedom, Costa Rican Section, bilingual, meets in Heredia the first Wednesday of the month. Works on peace activities, letters, editorials, campaigns for peace and human rights. Call Mitzi 2433-7078 for information.

Republicans Abroad

The Republicans Abroad of Costa Rica is an organization which provides a means for like minded individuals to meet and communicate with each other and with the national Republican Party through our parent organization, Republicans Abroad International.  We sponsor a luncheon/lecture series which meets on the third Tuesday of April, May, June, September, and October.  The location of these lunches, the speaker and the topic will be announced through the English-language press and by e-mail to our members. Women's Club
Founded in 1940, the Women's Club of Costa Rica is one of the oldest, continuously operating service organizations in Costa Rica. Current programs focus on education, primarily through scholarships and development of school libraries for children.  WCCR membership numbers 300 English-speaking women from all over the world, drawn together by the motto: Friendship through Service.  Monthly meetings with guest speakers are held the second Wednesday of each month, as well as regular luncheons, teas, and many interest groups.  Guests are welcome and further information can be found at  www.wccr.org.

The newly formed Central Pacific Women's Group holds its meeting at 9 a.m.
in Jacó's Balcon del Mar. The bilingual group is an affiliate of the Jacó Chamber of Commerce and discusses community and business issues. The group hosts guests speakers. Each Tuesday morning the Municipalidad de Santa Cruz will drive through Tamarindo and Langosta picking up recyclable material at the 10 sites with collection barrels and all other businesses who have requested a pick-up. More information is availalbe at [email protected]
