Social Taboos

I'm moving to Phnom Penh in February.  I've been researching social norms in Cambodia, since I'm not familiar with the culture.  Are there any tips you could give, based upon your observations there.  I know not to touch anyone's head and not to show the bottom of your feet.  Can you think of others...perhaps those not commonly known?  Thanks 😉

On the whole, Khmer are pretty relaxed and have a lot of tolerance for foreigners' follies. Obviously dress up when visiting Pagodas, Temples, and Angkor Wat. Ask before taking photos. Don't lose your temper.

Well, that's a relief.  I lived in China and that wasn't always the case.

Fair enough. I lived ion China for two years and had few issues but that was quite some time ago.

Smile a lot it goes along way in Cambodia, with the language issue a smile is universal

You might ask a question -- ie: directions and they might smile and say yes--- and have no idea what your talking about so if your asking for directions please double/triple confirm and/or ask another person to make sure.
Always agree on a tuk tuk /moto price before getting on.

Khmer are pretty bad when it comes to meeting at a certain time. If you say meet me at 5pm... dont be shocked if they are late.

Other then that, treat people with respect and you should get respect in return. Your white ?  at least skin is white so you will be put on a pedestal and be seen as "exotic"..
Enjoy it!
