New members of the Botswana forum, introduce yourself here – 2017

Hi all,

Newbie on the Botswana forum? Don't know how to start?

This thread is for you ;)

We invite you to introduce yourself on this topic, to share with us your expat story if you are already living in the country, or to tell us more on your expat projects in Botswana if you are planning to move there.

It will enable us to help you better but above all to wish you a warm welcome.

Welcome on board!

PD : The thread New members of the Botswana forum, introduce yourself here – 2016 continues below!

Hi there, this is a new newbie here

I am living in South Africa and have decided that my son (9 yrs) deserves a better chance in life.
It's just the two of us, so moving will be easier than for most.

I've done a lot of research, but need answers to my "silly" questions.

I am normally super confident, but am surprisingly very daunted by this adventure.

I am also hoping to make contacts/future friends for the other side.

Regards

Mandi

Don't worry, Botswana is pretty friendly! When are you looking to move here?

I am planning to start officially looking for work at the end of March. My first thing to do in Gabs is to join a church and some kind of respectable social club.

Finding a job, is of the priority at the moment.
I am capable of teaching English from 10 - 16 yrs, but also more than qualified to work in the business sector. I just don't know how to go about looking for a job. I also need to find out the average salaries, as I need to do my possible budget.

Thanks so much for your response
Mandi

Good morning Julien
I must admit that your message is heartening and makes me feel more positive about my move.
I am a single mom from East London in South Africa. I have decided to move because I owe my child and myself a better future.

I will only move once I find a job. I teach English to 10-17 years olds. I work at an Afrikaans school and am therefore equipped to teach English as a second language.

I really need to establish contacts with people there already or those that are also going through the process of moving.

Hello.
I am a Kenyan currently in my final year at Karatina University. After graduation, I have a strong desire to move out of Kenya and migrating to Botswana is my top priority.  Consequently, this platform is going to be a good starting point for me to learn more about Botswana and be able to create networks and friends.

Did you get settled? I arrived 2 weeks ago and wish to find something to immerse myself in--volunteering or the sort and a travel buddy for weekends possibly.

Hi Mandi,

what did you work as in the UK before moving abroad.

hope to hear from you soon,

Jasmine

Hi All,

What a great forum!!

We've moved back from living in the UK for over 12 years and have settled back in South Africa but the bushveld and fantastic nature of Botswana is calling our hearts and as such we would like to settle in Maun.

My husband works as a Dentist and I used to work as a Studio Manager for Architects.

Any tips re the dental board, recruitment companies and immigration specialists would be greatly appreciated.

Best regards,
Chantelle
