The holiday season in Honduras

Hello everyone,

Are you about to celebrate the holiday season in Honduras? In many countries and cultures, the festive season is the time for happiness and reunions/gatherings. Is it so in Honduras? How do Hondurans celebrate this very special time of the year?

What about you? Will you spend the holiday season in your host country or in your home country? Will there be expat reunions/celebrations/parties in your region/town/area?

Thank you in advance for sharing!

I am not a big fan of Christmas in Honduras, but Hondurans truly are. First you have to put on your dancing shoes and keep them on till dawn. Second nacatamales, (chicken and pork),  pork leg and sandwiches. Lots of alcohol, Hondurans are tremendous drinkers and gifiti in the Garifuna communities, and last but not least lots of fireworks and morteros that sound like bombs! Everyone dresses up in their Christmas estreno!  I forgot to add that everyone buys a cake for Christmas! Hondurans are crazy for sweets!

Copán and La Esperanza are beautiful towns to spend Christmas in Honduras!

This is also a a major night for church goers who may be somewhat more somber and religious in their view of the birth of Jesus Christ.

Merry Christmas to all and a Prosperous New Year!
