Where do you suggest living for convenience and somewhat quiet? Maadi or El Rehab? I'll be working at the American School main campus, as also want to be close.

I think it's closer to El Rehab, but that community looks very "American" Which isn't bad, but is Maadi hone to more Egyptians?
Yes, you mean the AUC campus, I believe Rehab would be more convenient to you in terms of traffic back and forth and it's more into a metropolitan, having expats from USA, Ukraine, Syrians and African too.
Maadi is a classic neighbourhood in terms of streets, buildings and ppl. You got embassies there, old white villas, metro and Cornish. It's a commingle of Egyptians and expats.
