We are from South Africa and my husband was offered a position in NSW (sponsorship). We are currently under debt review (we didn't gave much of a choice at the time). Will we be able to emigrate?

This sound a bit strange and I have seen other scam sponsership deals. Do your own research and check the offer out yourself, google the company number, ring them up and ask to speak to Human Resources. If they have made any offer they will know about it - a phonecall can save you an awful lot of more debt and misery. I hope you havent paid any agent money!
